About this stop

“Royal Caribbean's flagship private island — the biggest, boldest and most-visited private destination in the Bahamas.”

Perfect Day at CocoCay reshaped the private-island category when it opened in 2019. Royal Caribbean's $250M USD investment turned a modest shore-tender stop into a full resort destination with its own dock (no tender required), the Caribbean's tallest waterslide (Daredevil's Peak at 135 feet), a 1,600-foot-long zip line, hot-air-balloon rides, a 1.6-million-litre wave pool, the largest freshwater pool in the Caribbean (Oasis Lagoon), and a private adults-only beach club with its own champagne bar. Most food and non-alcoholic drinks are included in the cruise fare; premium experiences (Thrill Waterpark, cabanas, Coco Beach Club) carry an extra charge.

Canadian Insight

Royal Caribbean charges most upgrades (waterpark, cabanas, zip line) in USD on your onboard account — budget 30-40% more than a typical Caribbean port day if you plan to do the paid activities. Food in the complimentary dining venues is excellent (Chill Grill is the pick); line-ups for the paid Thrill Waterpark peak at 11am-2pm.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Is CocoCay included in the cruise fare?
Access to the island, food at the complimentary dining venues (Chill Grill, Snack Shack) and basic beach areas is included. Thrill Waterpark admission, Coco Beach Club day pass, cabanas, zip line and the helium balloon are all extra charges on your onboard account.
How many cruise ships can visit CocoCay at once?
The pier has two deepwater berths. Royal Caribbean typically schedules only one ship per day to keep the experience uncrowded, though during peak season two ships may call on the same day.
Can non-Royal Caribbean ships visit CocoCay?
No. CocoCay is exclusive to Royal Caribbean and its sister brand Celebrity. Celebrity does occasionally call on special itineraries.
Is CocoCay accessible for mobility-limited guests?
Yes. The pier design means no tender boat is required (unlike most private islands), and the main thoroughfares are accessible. Beach wheelchairs are available free from the shoreside team.
