title: "Royal Caribbean Cruises — Partner Offers & Who It Suits"
description: "Royal Caribbean operates the world's biggest cruise ships and leans mass-market with heavy family programming. Here is how to pick an itinerary."
updated: "2026-10-21"
Royal Caribbean International is the largest cruise line by passenger capacity and operates the biggest ships afloat — the Oasis-class and Icon-class hulls carry over 7,000 guests on a single sailing. The line is mass-market, heavily family-focused, and defined by its onboard experience as much as its destinations.
What makes Royal Caribbean different
The ships themselves are the attraction. Oasis- and Icon-class ships include multi-level water parks, ice rinks, zip lines, FlowRider surf simulators, Central Park atria with real plants, Broadway-sized theatres and 20+ dining venues. For families with teenagers, there is more to do in a single Royal Caribbean ship than in most all-inclusive resorts.
The tradeoff is scale. On a 6,000-guest sailing, every popular restaurant, show and port excursion needs to be reserved before you board — walk-up access rarely works. Pre-cruise planning matters more here than on any other mainstream line.
Who it suits
Great for: families with teens, multigenerational groups, first-time cruisers, Caribbean/Bahamas-focused travellers.
Less great for: quiet-vacation seekers, adults-only couples, foodies wanting intimate dining, port-focused itineraries where the ship is just transport.

- Quantum-class (Quantum, Anthem, Ovation, Spectrum, Odyssey) — mid-size, Alaska-capable, Asia-based.
