Personal Development

1-on-1

We approach life skills as an opportunity to develop the abilities of our young people in the areas of:
  • Resiliency
  • Problem solving
  • Imagination and development of option thinking
  • Appropriate goal setting
  • Financial Skills
  • Job Placement
All of these areas are developed in a self-directed learning environment. Once a month each participant sits down with the life skills coach/counselor and develops a goal for that month. They receive assistance in attaining their goal.

On-the-Job Life Skills

Our management on each site is also engaged in Life Skills activities. 25% of their time is spent in life skill activities. Each youth under their care is dealing with a constant crisis that takes away from their work responsibilities. Each manager needs to respond to these issues to firstly support the youth and secondly coach them back to work. These issues directly affect a youth's ability to work on a shift and in some instances effects all the youth on a given shift.
